Senior Manager, Engineering
Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a team of professional engineers — potentially including subordinate managers — delivering enterprise-grade platforms on Java, Spring Boot, Python (NumPy), REST APIs, Flask APIs, and Azure.
Responsibilities:
• Manage a team of professional employees, occasionally including subordinate M5/M6 managers; adapt plans and priorities to meet team service, business, and operational objectives
• Apply a deep understanding of the business and how your area integrates with others to achieve departmental objectives
• Make decisions that impact the finances, results, effectiveness, and level of service provided by the team, guided by policies, departmental plans, budgets, and resource requirements
• Identify and solve functional and organizational problems in a specialized area of expertise; understand and recognize broader impact across the department
• Own the technical health and delivery of a portfolio of services built on Java, Spring Boot, Python (NumPy), REST/Flask APIs, and Azure
• Drive architectural governance, engineering standards, and platform quality/performance/reliability improvements across teams
• Own resource planning, budgets, and team plans; manage capacity, hiring, and vendor engagement as needed
• Champion DevSecOps maturity and AI adoption across the SDLC — quality gates, security tooling, and AI-assisted engineering practices
• Guide and influence others internally and externally to build collaborative relationships, achieve goals, and adopt different points of view
• Develop managers and senior engineers; build succession depth and a strong engineering culture
• Partner with Product, Architecture, PMO, and senior leadership on roadmap, prioritization, and cross-team dependencies
• Ensure operational excellence: SLOs, incident management, cost optimization, and continuous improvement across owned services
