Job Description
Core Technology is a business-driven team of professionals, that develop and support technology solutions for customers of all business areas. Our deliverables cover automation/lifting device controls, human-machine interfaces, embedded electronics, motor controls, inverter technologies, product sustainability, reliability and asset intelligence.
Purpose of the Role
As material handling devices become increasingly intelligent and connected to external systems, managing machine control solutions at the system level becomes critical. While technologies, components, modules, and operational processes are primarily owned by component and platform owners, certain system-level issues fall outside existing ownership structures — for example, addressing compliance requirements at the architectural level in line with company recommendations. The System Architect, Machine Controls assumes responsibility for these cross-cutting concerns to ensure coherence, integration, and alignment.
Key Responsibilities
• Envision and guide machine control system architecture, managing system design from high-level views down to component details
• Coordinate cross-functional technical efforts, driving technical system-level coordination across the corporation
• Provide architectural guidance, mentoring, and best practices to engineering teams, fostering system-level thinking and strengthening architectural capabilities across the organization
• Manage and maintain system-level technical specifications and architectural principles, including interface specifications, data models and reference architectures
• Ensure architectural coherence and harmonization across systems and components, supporting and enabling product compliance with relevant regulations
• Create and maintain architectural descriptions for internal teams and external stakeholders to promote clarity and alignment
• Act as the cybersecurity expert at the architectural level, addressing cybersecurity requirements and best practices
• Maintain quality assurance instructions and guidelines, including system-level testing scope and criteria for features, connectivity, and cybersecurity
• Create the future vision and mid-term roadmap and lead adoption and integration of advanced technologies including intelligent, self-evolving equipment and components, Industry 4.0, M2M communication, and connected services
• Manage platform aspects such as interface principles, bus technology segmentation, and connectivity policies
• Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for complex system-level issues as Tier 4
