Privacy Fellow
Job Description
Who we are
About Stripe
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world's largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.
About the team
We work on complex technical and legal problems every day, and we're looking for a privacy fellow with a love for data, technology, and privacy. In this role, you'll work closely with members of Stripe's privacy legal team and cross-functional privacy teams to help develop procedures, playbooks, and templates to help comply with privacy and data protection laws around the world.
What you'll do
As a Privacy Fellow on Stripe's Privacy GRC and Operations team, you'll join for a 12-month fellowship and own meaningful work from day one - not shadow it. You'll contribute directly to the programs that keep Stripe compliant, trustworthy, and privacy-forward across global markets.
Responsibilities
• Reviewing Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for new products and features across Stripe, evaluating privacy risks and helping teams launch responsibly
• Managing and updating Stripe's customer-facing privacy policies, including coordinating localization and translations for multiple markets and jurisdictions
• Working at the intersection of privacy and emerging technology - you'll assess privacy implications for some of Stripe's most innovative initiatives, from AI-powered tools to new financial products
• Supporting Stripe's global privacy compliance program, contributing to the strategic frameworks that shape how privacy is practiced company-wide
• Collaborating with privacy counsel, product teams, and legal operations to move compliance work forward efficiently and at scale
Who you are
We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Minimum requirements
• Recently graduated from law school and have taken or are preparing to take the bar exam.
• Passionate about privacy and data protection with a desire to become a subject matter expert in data protection and privacy legal issues.
• Someone with excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred qualifications
• Organized, with strong project management skills and the ability to work well on long-term and short-term projects and a willingness to partner on a wide range of projects
• Curious about and comfortable using AI tools, and eager to adopt them as part of their daily workflow
• Relevant experience with privacy, data protection, legal research, or compliance is welcome, though not expected
• Ideally based in the SF Bay Area or Seattle
