Tester Maintenance Manager
Job Description
The Tester Maintenance Manager is the technical owner of the tester fleet’s health: balancing day-to-day line-down response with a long-term reliability plan, and acting as the primary interface between Manufacturing, Test Engineering, Planning, Facilities, and the tester OEMs. The role is based on a cleanroom, ESD-controlled production floor that runs around the clock, with on-call availability for line-down events and extra shift cover during new-line ramps.
Key Responsibilities
• Own tester availability, utilization, MTBF, and MTTR targets across the ATE fleet and its interface hardware (load boards, probe cards), reporting performance to site leadership.
• Define and run the preventive maintenance (PM) and calibration plan for testers, following OEM guidance and audit requirements, to minimize unplanned downtime and extend equipment life.
• Run the daily shift handover and downtime review, and resolve line-down issues with Production and Test Engineering.
• Lead troubleshooting and structured root-cause analysis (8D, FMEA) for recurring or high-impact tester failures, and make sure fixes are documented and standardized.
• Lead and develop a team of PM technicians, sustaining technicians, and equipment engineers across the shift pattern, including skill matrix, training, certification, and headcount planning.
• Plan and lead installation, qualification, and correlation of new testers with OEMs, Facilities, and Test Engineering, and make sure the team is trained and ready before a new line starts production.
• Own the spare parts strategy for tester platforms — criticality analysis, stock levels, and lead-time management — and manage repair vendors and OEM service contracts.
• Own the tester maintenance budget and give input to capex and opex plans, including repair-versus-replace decisions.
• Enforce EHS rules (lockout/tagout, electrical safety) and ESD controls, keep calibration traceable, and keep the area audit-ready.
• Track and report the key indicators weekly and monthly: tester uptime, MTTR, on-time PM and calibration completion, repeat failures, spare parts availability, maintenance cost per tester, training coverage, and safety and ESD incidents.
• Run continuous-improvement projects that raise uptime and cut cost per tester.
