Up to 50% of the role is dedicated to presales activities, including opportunity qualification, discovery sessions, solution definition, estimates, proposals, demonstrations, and client presentations.
The role covers the Finance value chain, from planning and budgeting through transactional execution, consolidation, close, and integration with the modules that post to the general ledger. Working closely with Sales, Solution, and Delivery teams, you translate business requirements into credible, achievable, and differentiated SAP Finance solutions. You also act as a design authority for active engagements by approving functional direction, resolving deviations from standard, and safeguarding the coherence of processes, data, and integrations.
Your mission consists of:
• Presales and Solution Development• Dedicate up to 50% of working time to presales activities, including opportunity qualification, discovery workshops, and client presentations.
• Design SAP Finance solutions, prepare estimates, and contribute to commercial proposals in partnership with Sales and Delivery teams.
• Develop reusable demonstrations, accelerators, and offerings that support practice growth.
• Consultative intelligence • Provide the deep functional expertise required to shape solutions by distinguishing standard capabilities, genuine gaps, and the choice among configuration, extension, or process change.
• Lead Finance workstreams in digital discovery and readiness assessments, then present recommendations, estimates, assumptions, and trade-offs in workshops, proposals, and oral presentations.
• Assess the financial implications of adjacent process designs, including revenue recognition, intercompany activity, inventory valuation, fixed assets, and period close.
• Technical and functional expertise • Define and uphold the functional architecture for Finance, including universal journal, the SAP S/4HANA data model, consolidation, planning, costing, margin analysis, asset accounting, project systems, and treasury touchpoints.
• Configure and prototype complex scenarios when design decisions cannot be settled on paper, then confirm the end-to-end behaviour of postings, master data, and interfaces.
• Advise clients on IFRS and statutory requirements in Canada and the United States and on where tax engines and e-invoicing belong in the solution.
• Problem solving and analytical thinking • Review and approve functional designs, specifications for reports, interfaces, enhancements, forms, and workflows, and the domain’s critical test strategies and scripts.
• Support defect analysis during system integration, user acceptance, and regression testing, then resolve domain escalations through cutover, hypercare, and transition into AMS.
• Guide data migration and cutover decisions, including opening balances, open items, and master-data quality thresholds.
• Leadership, vision and initiative • Act as the Finance design authority across multiple concurrent engagements and serve as the quality gate before deliverables reach clients.
• Coach functional consultants through design reviews, contribute to interviews and onboarding, and identify the capabilities the practice must develop, train, or hire.
• Track the SAP roadmap for the domain and brief the practice on changes that affect the standard approach, clean core, and cloud solutions.
• Knowledge sharing • Create and maintain reusable process models, configuration accelerators, demo environments and scripts, guides, and design patterns for presales and delivery.
• Capture engagement lessons and patterns in practice intellectual property and contribute domain content to AI-enabled delivery tools and the internal knowledge base.
