Job Overview
We are looking for a Moodle Developer & LMS Administrator with 2– 3 years of experience to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for Moodle development, customisation, administration, configuration, troubleshooting, and ongoing support of Moodle-based Learning Management Systems.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with Moodle LMS administration and development, along with good knowledge of PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Moodle APIs, plugins, user management, courses, enrolments, roles, reports, and system configuration.
Key Responsibilities
Moodle Development
• Develop, customise, maintain, and troubleshoot Moodle LMS applications.
• Develop and customise Moodle local, block, activity, authentication, enrolment, and other plugins.
• Work with Moodle APIs, events, callbacks, scheduled tasks, and database APIs.
• Develop and integrate REST APIs and Moodle Web Services.
• Customise Moodle themes and UI using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Mustache templates, and Moodle APIs.
• Write and optimise MySQL/MariaDB queries.
• Debug Moodle core, plugin, and custom application issues.
• Implement new features and enhancements based on functional requirements.
• Support Moodle version upgrades and ensure custom plugins are compatible.
• Work with Moodle cron, scheduled tasks, events, and background processes.
• Follow Moodle coding standards and security best practices.
Moodle LMS Administration
• Perform day-to-day Moodle LMS administration and configuration.
• Create and manage users, cohorts, courses, categories, roles, and permissions.
• Configure and manage enrolment methods, including manual enrolment, self-enrolment, cohort enrolment, and other supported methods.
• Configure and manage roles and capabilities.
• Manage users and user access across different courses and categories.
• Configure course settings, activities, resources, completion criteria, and restrictions.
• Configure and manage Moodle plugins from the administration interface.
• Configure authentication methods and user account settings.
• Manage Moodle site administration settings.
• Configure and monitor scheduled tasks and cron jobs.
• Monitor Moodle logs, events, errors, and system warnings.
• Manage course backups, restores, imports, and course templates.
• Configure and maintain Moodle reports and custom reports.
• Manage badges, certificates, competencies, learning plans, and completion settings.
• Configure and support SCORM, H5P, quizzes, assignments, forums, and other Moodle activities.
• Assist with Moodle performance monitoring and basic optimisation.
• Troubleshoot user access, enrolment, course, activity, and configuration-related issues.
• Support Moodle deployments across Development, Test, UAT/Pre-Production, and Production environments.
• Maintain proper documentation for Moodle configuration and administration activities.
Required Technical Skills
Moodle Development
• 2–3 years of hands-on Moodle development experience.
• Strong knowledge of PHP.
• Good understanding of Moodle architecture and coding standards.
• Experience developing Moodle plugins.
• Knowledge of Moodle APIs and database APIs.
• Experience with Moodle Web Services / REST APIs.
• Understanding of Moodle events, observers, scheduled tasks, and cron.
• Good knowledge of MySQL/MariaDB.
• Experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery.
• Knowledge of Git/version control.
Moodle Administration
• Hands-on experience with Moodle LMS Administration.
• Good understanding of Moodle Site Administration.

• Enrolment and authentication configuration.
• Course completion and activity completion configuration.
• Gradebook and assessment configuration.
• Groups and cohorts management.
• Moodle reports and logs.

• Badges and certificates configuration.
• Scheduled tasks and cron management.
• Basic Moodle security and performance troubleshooting.

• Basic knowledge of Apache/Nginx and PHP configuration.

• Experience with SCORM and e-learning standards.
• Knowledge of React, Angular, or modern JavaScript frameworks.

• Experience with SSO integrations such as OAuth2, SAML, or LDAP.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should have 2– 3 years of hands-on experience in Moodle development and administration and should be capable of handling both Moodle application development and day-to-day LMS administration.
Candidates with experience in an e-learning/LMS environment, Moodle plugin development, LMS configuration, user/course management, API integration, and Moodle troubleshooting will be preferred.
