Reliability Engineer - Automotive Power Electronics
Job Description
Our Electrified Motion – Power Electronics division develops advanced technologies that enable the next generation of electrified vehicles. As a Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the robustness and long-term reliability of our automotive power electronics products, including inverters, on-board chargers and DC-DC converters.
In this role, you will contribute across the entire product lifecycle – from concept phase through series production and field support – while supporting cost-efficiency initiatives without compromising product reliability.
Your tasks:
► Evaluate customer reliability requirements and relevant automotive standards (e.g., ISO 16750, AEC-Q100, AEC-Q101) and define reliability targets for power electronics systems and components
► Identify, analyze and mitigate reliability-related risks during product development using structured methodologies such as FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
► Analyze complete automotive systems to define use cases, mission profiles and load conditions (electrical, thermal, mechanical) and apply Design for Reliability (DfR) and physics-of-failure principles
► Define reliability design guidelines and develop test and validation plans, including accelerated life testing at component and system level
► Support cost optimization and target costing initiatives while ensuring that product robustness and reliability targets are maintained
► Lead systematic problem-solving activities (e.g., 8D, Ishikawa) for production and field issues and perform root cause analysis based on field data
► Document analyses, test results and findings and present reliability-related topics to internal stakeholders and customers
