Job Description

About Polymarket

Polymarket is the world’s largest prediction market platform. We enable individuals to express views on real-world events by trading on outcomes across politics, economics, sports, culture, and current affairs. Built as a peer-to-peer marketplace with no centralized “house,” Polymarket aggregates diverse opinions into transparent, market-based probabilities that reflect collective expectations about the future.

We're growing fast – both in terms of volume ($21B traded in 2025) and adoption as an alternative news source. Our ambition is to become a ubiquitous beacon of truth in global media and we need your help adding fuel to the fire.

About the Role

Polymarket is looking for a Staff Full-Stack Engineer to define the technical strategy and long-term architecture of the systems that power how Polymarket operates. You’ll partner with leaders across the company, understand their strategic goals at a deep level, and shape how our operational platform evolves to meet them.

These systems center on Mission Control: the internal platform Polymarket uses to run Polymarket. Mission Control is the backbone for teams across the company, including Markets, Product, Polymarket US, Trust & Safety, Compliance, Exchange Operations, and Customer Experience. It is critical to how we create, configure, and launch markets, and to how we operate safely and compliantly at scale.

This is a role for an experienced technical leader who wants broad ownership, influence across the organization, and a direct hand in how Polymarket operates as it scales.

What You’ll Do

• Own and lead Mission Control. Set the technical vision and roadmap for the platform used to run Polymarket, the engine behind our markets, operations, compliance, and growth.

• Build Mission Control as a platform. Design the core abstractions, data models, and extension points that let teams across the company build on Mission Control safely and quickly, without a dedicated engineer for every workflow.

• Architect markets automation at scale. Drive the design of systems that change how markets are researched, structured, deployed, and managed as volume grows.

• Make high-stakes technical decisions. Lead architecture and design reviews, weigh tradeoffs across reliability, security, compliance, and speed, and make sure our systems meet the standards of a regulated exchange.

• Influence beyond your team. Work with core product, infrastructure, and data teams to align on interfaces, shared services, and standards. Identify problems across the company before they become blockers.

• Embed with and partner across teams. Work directly with leaders in Markets, Product, Polymarket US, Trust & Safety, Compliance, Operations, and CX to turn their strategic goals into technical priorities and shape how their teams work.

• Multiply the team. Mentor senior and mid-level engineers, set the engineering culture and quality bar, and help shape hiring and team growth.

What We’re Looking For

• 8+ years of professional software development experience, including significant time as a technical lead or architect on production systems

• Deep expertise designing, building, and scaling full-stack web applications and platforms

• Expert-level skills in TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), and CSS

• Extensive experience with React and Node.js (Next.js is a bonus)

• A track record of setting technical direction and delivering large, cross-team initiatives from strategy through execution

• Exceptional system design skills, including designing platforms that other teams build on

• Proven ability to influence without authority and drive alignment among engineering, product, and business leaders

• Experience mentoring senior engineers and shaping engineering culture, standards, and hiring

• Strong customer empathy: you understand what teams actually need, not just what they ask for

• Strong judgment under ambiguity: you know when to move fast, when to invest for the long term, and how to explain the difference

• Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to write clear technical strategy and present tradeoffs to executives

• A passion for blockchain, decentralized finance, and freedom of speech

• (Plus) Experience building internal platforms or tooling for compliance, AML, surveillance, risk, or trading operations

• (Plus) Experience in a regulated environment such as an exchange, brokerage, or financial institution

• (Plus) Experience in an embedded or field engineering role, working directly alongside product or operations teams

• (Plus) Experience with workflow automation or deployment pipelines

• (Plus) Background in fintech, crypto, exchanges, or data-heavy applications

• (Plus) Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent

Benefits

• Competitive salary & equity

• Unlimited PTO

• Full health, vision, & dental coverage

• 401(k) match

• Hardware setup: new MacBook Pro, big display, & accessories

Pay Transparency

Base salary range: $250,000 to $500,000 annually, plus equity and benefits.

This range reflects a good-faith estimate for this position. Experience levels vary widely within a title here, so please reach out even if your expectations fall outside it. We're always happy to chat.
