Job Description
The Manager, Convening runs Nielsen's always-on engagement calendar, mainly in New York. Where the premium portfolio creates a handful of major moments each year, this role keeps Nielsen in front of clients continuously — through a monthly sports series, cultural and awards moments, and the Media Intelligence Lab at Nielsen's New York headquarters.
This is a hands-on delivery role with real ownership. The person in it is responsible for a recurring calendar of client-facing moments running at a consistently high standard, on budget, without the flagship-level production apparatus behind each one.
Working closely with the Director, Convening Experiences, Global Client & Sales Leadership, Comms and Creative, this role turns Nielsen's presence into a year-round engagement asset.
Responsibilities
• Monthly Sports Series: Plan and deliver Nielsen's recurring sports convening series, including March Madness, the US Open, the World Series and additional moments across the sporting calendar. Own venue selection, hospitality standard, guest experience and on-site delivery for each edition.
• Cultural Moments & Awards: Deliver Nielsen's client-facing presence at cultural and awards moments, coordinating with Brand, Comms and Creative so each moment ties to a current Nielsen narrative rather than standing alone.
• Media Intelligence Lab: Own day-to-day programming, scheduling and client tours of the Media Intelligence Lab. Maintain the experience, coordinate content refreshes, and build the Media Intelligence Lab into a standard stop for visiting clients.
• Guest Management: Build and manage guest lists with Sales and account teams, run invitation and RSVP processes, track attendance and conversion, and maintain accurate records for follow-up and reporting.
• Vendor & Venue Coordination: Source and manage venues, caterers, AV and production vendors across. Negotiate within delegated thresholds, manage contracts and insurance requirements, and maintain a preferred supplier list.
• On-Site Delivery: Serve as the on-site lead for the always-on portfolio, managing setup, run of show, staffing, client hosting and teardown. Represent Nielsen credibly in front of senior client guests.
• Operations, Reporting & Playbooks: Maintain the always-on calendar, budget tracker and workback plans. Produce post-event reporting on attendance, guest feedback and cost per attendee, and build repeatable playbooks so each series improves rather than restarts.
• Budget Tracking: Manage spend for the always-on portfolio against plan, flagging variances early and finding efficiency across recurring formats.
