Airbnb’s Public Policy campaign team exists to further the interests of our community of hosts and guests with politicians, regulators, opinion leaders and media who shape the political and regulatory context for our business. We engage governments at all levels and use innovative advocacy and partnership strategies to make the case for fair and progressive rules for home sharing.
The Difference You Will Make:
The role of the Public Policy Manager is to lead the conception and execution of successful policy and regulatory outcomes in the UK. Reporting to the Head of Policy and Public Affairs for Northern Europe, the Public Policy Manager will develop and execute integrated government relations, communications and public advocacy projects to achieve key policy objectives.
As Public Policy Manager, you will be relentlessly focussed on the big picture: able to strategise across multiple fronts, build effective relationships with policymakers and influence the outcomes needed to advance Airbnb’s business objectives. You should have a strong independent work ethic, excellent communication skills, and an ability to take big ideas and translate them into policy with creativity. You will bring a campaigning mindset, be details orientated and used to working with complexity.
A Typical Day:
• Develop and implement Airbnb’s legislative and public policy objectives; including helping determine advocacy priorities, positions, and strategies.
• Build and maintain relationships with an extensive network of contacts in local, regional, and national governments, as well as with allied groups and coalition partners.
• Monitor, interpret and influence the shape of legislation, providing analysis and critical thinking on how it may affect Airbnb’s priorities.
• Represent Airbnb in public, including meetings with government and elected officials, industry associations, Airbnb hosts and other stakeholders.
• Build partnerships and alliances that bring the Airbnb brand vision to life, in order to support our policy goals.
• Work across the Airbnb business, to ensure that plans support the market objectives, and to communicate and prepare the business for change.
Your Expertise:
• 8+ years experience working with policy issues in a relevant business, political, governmental, legislative or regulatory context, for example: tourism and accommodation, e-commerce, online platforms.
• 4+ years of experience working in a political campaign and/or direct lobbying.
• Ability to quickly get up to speed on complex technical and regulatory issues.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and navigate complex matrix organization with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; planning, memo-writing and budgeting skills with proficiency in major computer applications including AI.
• Extremely creative; taking an entrepreneurial approach to the work with a proven track record of delivery
• Highly results-driven and strives to find the most efficient way to do things without sacrificing a high quality of work and/or results.
• Excellent communicator with great presentation and writing skills.
• Acute attention to detail; extremely organised and able to help keep others organised.
• Ability to exercise judgment and maintain confidentiality.
• Flexible with the ability to remain poised under pressure; adapting to situations as they arise.
• Embraces change and challenges with a positive and solutions-oriented approach.
• Self-starter with a sense of humor and the ability to thrive in a fast moving and sometimes stressful environment; ability to resolve complex and unfamiliar problems in a timely and efficient manner.
• Passion for home-sharing and the mission of the company.
• Leadership skills and experience in managing other people and developing teams will be nice to have.
• Willingness to travel regularly within the assigned region.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range shown below is annualized, is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
