Job Description

As Chief of Staff to the Chief Product Officer, you will be a force multiplier for Asana's product leadership team. This role helps the CPO run a high-functioning organization by translating priorities into an effective operating rhythm, keeping Product, Engineering, and Design aligned, and driving the key forums, communications, and strategic work that let leaders make better decisions faster.

This is a high-trust, high-judgment role for someone who can move fluidly between strategic thinking and execution. You will own the cadence and connective tissue around the Office of the CPO: leadership meetings, board and planning materials, internal communications, cross-functional follow-through, and special projects that do not sit neatly within a single team.

The role is especially important as the CPO's org now includes StackAI, Ecosystem Partnerships, and Data Science. You increase the CPO’s leverage by representing his priorities clearly, moving cross-functional work forward without him in the room, and imposing structure on messy, ambiguous situations. This role is not a head of operations, a gatekeeper, or a proxy product leader. It succeeds by increasing leadership leverage, organizational clarity, and decision quality across the product organization.

This role is based in our San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. If you're interviewing for this role, your recruiter will share more about the in-office requirements.

What you’ll achieve

• Run the core operating rhythm for the Office of the CPO, including but not limited to CPO directs, R&D leadership, and product leads at executive meetings

• Drive high-quality preparation, agendas, decisions, and follow-through for leadership meetings so the right conversations happen and actions move

• Build crisp, executive-ready materials for board discussions, product strategy reviews, quarterly planning, and other senior leadership forums

• Lead R&D All Hands program management and CPO exec communications so priorities are clear, messaging is coherent, and leaders stay on the same page

• Plan leadership offsites and other org moments that strengthen team culture, improve engagement, and help the product organization operate as one team

• Help translate company OKRs into effective R&D input and support quarterly OKR-setting across product and partner teams

• Act as connective tissue across Product, Engineering, and Design, surfacing misalignment early and helping leaders converge on direction, tradeoffs, and next steps

• Improve how the Office of the CPO routes customer meetings and field requests, making sure the right product or R&D leader is engaged and that Arnab focuses on the highest-value interactions

• Lead special projects, analyses, and communications that require strong judgment, discretion, and the ability to create structure in ambiguous situations

About you

• Strong track record in a product (incl. PM, design, or UX), product marketing, operations, or similar role in a fast-moving technology environment

• Experience supporting senior product or R&D leaders and operating effectively with executives on sensitive, high-visibility topics

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex topics into clear narratives, briefs, decks, and decision memos

• Strong meeting design and follow-through skills; you know how to turn leadership forums into clear decisions, owners, and actions

• Excellent cross-functional judgment and influence; you can work across Product, Engineering, Design, Data Science, GTM, and partnerships without becoming a bottleneck

• Strong strategic problem-solving and analytical skills; you can frame issues, assess options, and recommend action in ambiguous situations

• High EQ, sound judgment, and discretion; you build trust quickly and handle sensitive information well

• A bias for action and a willingness to operate at multiple altitudes, from executive narrative work to the mechanics of making the organization run smoothly

• Demonstrates curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision-making

At Asana, we're committed to building teams that include a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills, as this is critical to helping us achieve our mission. If you're interested in this role and don't meet every listed requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
