Job Description
Sioux Area Metro (SAM) is South Dakota’s largest transportation provider. As a Lead Diesel Mechanic at SAM by Via, you will perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on buses, automotive equipment, and shop equipment. What You’ll Do:
• Direct highly varied and complex operations related to vehicle and equipment service
• Repair and/or replace any subsystem associated with heavy, medium, and/or light duty SAM coaches and automotive equipment
• Work with other maintenance workers, drivers, and transportation supervisors
• Maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors
Who You Are:
• 7+ years of mechanic experience
• Possess knowledge of the design, adjustment, operation, maintenance, and repair of systems and subsystems of SAM coaches and related shop equipment
• Able to work on their feet eight hours per day, lift 100 pounds, and carry parts, equipment, and supplies
• Class AA and ASE Certified
• Hold a valid SD driver’s license
• Able to obtain a CDL permit
• Able to pass a pre-employment physical
• High school diploma or GED equivalent, including trade or vocational school. Additional training at manufacturer’s schools, courses, or seminars is a plus.
• Pass a drug screening and background check: no felonies, clean MVR, no DUI/DWI or reckless driving convictions, and no more than 2 speeding tickets
Compensation and Benefits
• Final salary will be determined by the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and skills.
• Salary Range: $37.32 / hour
• Benefits include health, dental, and life insurance, 401K with up to 6% company match, holiday pay, vacation, tool allowance, and bonus days
