SMB Account Executive
Job Description
HoneyBook is the leading AI-powered business management platform for service-based business owners. Designed to enhance - not replace - independent professionals. HoneyBook’s AI-powered tools help businesses attract leads, connect with clients, book projects, and manage payments more efficiently. With AI seamlessly integrated into every workflow, entrepreneurs can focus on their craft while scaling their businesses with confidence. Since its founding in 2013, HoneyBook has powered over 25 million client relationships and processed more than $12 billion in transactions, helping independent businesses grow faster and smarter.
Our culture is built on five core values that inform everything we do. We encourage collaboration, feedback, ownership, and maintain a growth mindset. We know experience comes in many forms - some visible on your resume, others not. No one candidate will be a 100% perfect match to our description, so if you thrive in a fast-paced, intellectually curious environment and have relevant experience, we encourage you to apply.
We're looking for a sharp, competitive Account Executive to own the full sales cycle for our highest-value user segments. You'll be the first real conversation a prospect has with HoneyBook, and the reason they sign.
This role sits at the center of one of HoneyBook's biggest company priorities, and if you're energized by ambiguity — if you'd rather build the playbook than be handed one — it's the right moment to join. This isn't walking into an established territory with a defined call region waiting for you. It's a genuine growth opportunity where what you build has a direct impact on how the company scales. The strategy is set, the campaigns are live, and the infrastructure is being built in real time. You'll have real ownership, real visibility, and a direct line between your work and company growth.
Here are a few of the things you will do:
You'll manage a mix of inbound and outbound activity, working warm leads while also prospecting net-new targets in priority markets. You'll be running multiple deals at once, closing with urgency, and building the processes that make it all repeatable — including having a real voice in shaping how we sell and onboard as we scale.
• Run tailored product demos for target verticals, speaking directly to their specific workflows and pain points — you'll develop your own point of view on what resonates and sharpen it with every conversation
• Own the full cycle from first touch to closed deal — and bring the pattern recognition to help us refine it. What's working, what's slowing things down, and where the cycle should evolve are inputs we want from you
• Qualify leads and route closed deals to the right onboarding path — and actively contribute to how those paths are defined. Right now, high-value accounts go to a dedicated CSM while lower-value deals move toward hybrid or self-serve, but how we draw those lines will be shaped in part by what you're seeing on the ground
• Own the outbound playbook — not just execute it. You won't be handed a proven process — you'll be the one who builds it, tests it, and iterates until it's something scalable
• Use AI tools as a core part of how you work — from managing your pipeline to uncovering new processes that make you faster and sharper. You're expected to bring curiosity and initiative here, not wait to be told what to use
• Surface trends across your deals and bring structured feedback to the product team — you're on the front lines, and the insights you develop matter
Here is what we’re looking for in a candidate:
• Full-cycle closing experience — can run a deal start to finish without a fully defined process handed to them
• Comfortable in ambiguity; builds structure rather than waiting for it
• Strong communicator: demos product, handles objections, adapts pitch based on what they're learning
• Competitive, metrics-driven, self-starter who builds their own pipeline and follows up without prompting
• AI-forward: uses AI tools proactively to work faster/smarter, not just when told to
Here is what is needed:
• Proven track record in a closing role, ideally in a fast, high-volume sales cycle
• Experience selling to micro/small business owners ($200K–$5M revenue), especially in events or freelance verticals — understands how small teams make decisions
• Experience with HubSpot and Claude/AI-assisted selling tools is a plus
• Comfortable owning both inbound and outbound motion simultaneously
• Comfortable with monthly or quarterly travel and in person sales
The good stuff:
Mission-driven: You'll be joining more than just another startup. Our members’ success is at the heart of everything we do.
Impact: We move quickly and encourage every employee to push the envelope. Our best ideas come from out-of-the-box thinking and innovation; be ready to fail fast and often!
Compensation: We offer a competitive salary and meaningful equity grants.
Benefits & perks: From wellness programs to exceptional family leave policies, the health and happiness of our employees are foremost.
Our core values:
People come first: We prioritize people as we explore opportunities and work through challenges.
Raise the bar: We push for greatness—for ourselves, each other, and our members.
Own it: Trust and ownership let us make decisions with confidence.
We love what we do: We bring passion to our work and love what we create for our members.
Keep it real: Authenticity, respect, and transparency are at our core.
