Manager, Field Engineering - Eastern Europe
Job Description
FEQ427R475
As a Field Engineering Manager, you will lead, coach, and scale a high-performing team of technical pre-sales Solutions Architects and Solutions Engineers across Eastern Europe. Positioned at the intersection of complex cloud architecture and enterprise business value, you will serve as a pivotal technical leader driving Databricks’ market expansion and customer acceleration across the EE region.
In this role, you will partner with Enterprise Sales leadership to technical sales cycles, build strategic C-level alignment, and establish a repeatable technical motion. You will balance strategic regional planning with hands-on technical guidance helping your team architect modern Data & AI solutions while maintaining a bar-raising, inclusive engineering culture.
The Impact You Will Have
• Scale & Enable Technical Talent: Hire, onboard, and mentor a top-tier pre-sales engineering team across Eastern Europe, maintaining a robust talent pipeline and fostering continuous technical enablement on the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform
• Drive Consumption-Based Growth: Partner closely with Sales leadership to accurately forecast, technically qualify, and accelerate enterprise sales cycles, linking technical validations (PoCs/PVs) directly to long-term consumption and measurable customer ROI.
• Cultivate Value-Engineered Solutions: Institute rigorous pre-sales methodologies that shift conversations from feature lists to strategic business outcomes, establishing your team as trusted architectural advisors to customer CTOs, CDOs, and Chief AI Officers.
• Build Executive & Strategic Alignment: Engage directly with key customer executives and regional System Integrator (SI) / Cloud Service Provider (CSP) partners to secure reference architectures, co-selling motions, and successful downstream implementation strategies.
• Foster an Inclusive, Builder-First Culture: Promote a customer-obsessed, highly collaborative engineering team culture rooted in technical curiosity, architectural excellence, and diversity of thought.
• Expand Regional Brand & Market Presence: Act as a key technical leader in Eastern Europe in partnership with Regional Marketing and Field Leadership to drive community engagement, executive roundtables, and developer events.
What We Look For
• Pre-Sales Engineering Leadership: Proven track record of building, coaching, and scaling technical pre-sales or solutions architecture teams within a hyper-growth SaaS, Cloud, or Enterprise Data/AI ecosystem.
• Deep Domain Expertise: Background as a practitioner or technical consultant in at least one core technical domain.
• Consumption & Commercial Acumen: Hands-on understanding of consumption-driven SaaS business models, technical pipeline management, and strategic deal-qualification frameworks (e.g., MEDDPICC).
• Architectural Authority: Ability to review, challenge, and influence complex multi-cloud data architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP) to earn the immediate trust of customer engineering teams and internal product leaders.
• Executive Presence: Strong communication, whiteboarding, and storytelling skills; adept at translating complex distributed systems concepts into clear executive business drivers.
• Regional Language Capabilities: Professional fluency in English is required. Fluency in one or more Eastern European languages (e.g., Polish, Greek, Romanian, Bulgarian, or Czech) is strongly preferred.
