Job Description
The Vox Media Podcast Network is hiring a Video Producer for its award‑winning show On with Kara Swisher. The show reaches a large, influential audience and regularly welcomes headline‑makers across politics (Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders, Pete Buttegieg), tech (Sam Altman, Geoffrey Hinton, Bill Gates), and culture (Margaret Atwood, Laverne Cox, Ronny Chieng).
The Video Producer manages the technical workflows for full episodes and social video, creates thumbnails and other assets, and oversees publishing. They will deliver polished, high-performing content tailored to YouTube and other social platforms, and consult on strategy. This is a hands-on role for an experienced visual storyteller with a background in news.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Edit and produce longform video episodes for platforms like YouTube, ensuring strong pacing, dynamic visuals, and high production value across remote, in-studio, and hybrid formats.
• Create platform-native shortform video content optimized for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts—translating strong podcast moments into compelling visual stories.
• Design and implement scalable visual elements (motion graphics, captions, lower-thirds, etc.) that align with each show’s tone and target platform.
• Manage and mentor freelance editors and designers, assigning work, giving creative feedback, and ensuring brand consistency and quality across deliverables.
• Write and edit scripts as needed in collaboration with hosts/show teams, contributing to the editorial shape and clarity of visual content.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with editorial, social, and audience development teams to ensure content meets performance goals and platform best practices.
• Stay current on visual and social trends across the podcast and digital media landscape, offering insights and ideas that help teams evolve and stand out.
• Assembling, refining, and packaging the video version of each episode in Descript, while also producing polished audio using Descript and Pro Tools for advanced cleanup.
• Shape the pacing, clarity, and visual presentation of each episode and ensure both formats deliver a compelling, high-quality viewer and listener experience.
• Lead the complete video editing workflow for each episode in Descript, shaping visual pacing, structure, and clarity.
• Handle multi-track/multi-camera assembly, visual layout adjustments, framing continuity, and sync across tracks.
• Record and remotely direct host video intros, ensuring consistency in framing, lighting, and delivery.
• Prepare and refine video assets such as thumbnails, captions, on-screen text, and other YouTube-optimized elements.
• Maintain efficient ingest-to-publish workflows for all video materials.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
• 6-8+ years of experience in digital video production, with a track record of success creating editorial content for podcasts and social platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to produce both longform and shortform video content, especially for talk-based or interview-driven formats.
• Strong editing expertise in Adobe Premiere
• Motion design and graphics capabilities in After Effects or similar tools
• Experience managing freelancers or vendors, and clear creative direction that ensures timely, high-quality delivery.
• Excellent editorial instincts and news judgement.
• A collaborative, consultative working style and the ability to plug into existing teams to help elevate their visual presence.
• A deep understanding of video platform ecosystems (YouTube, TikTok, Reels), including what drives performance, how users engage, and what makes shows grow.

PAY TRANSPARENCY
The salary range listed below represents the minimum and maximum base pay for this position at the time of this posting. Final salary offered to the candidate selected for the position will be based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience.
Pay Range$81,000—$105,000 USDOUR DEI+ COMMITMENT
