Job Description
Role: CAD Design Engineer Tools: Unigraphics-NX CAD Software Relevant Experience: 4 to 6 years
Essential Competencies: • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical design and product-development principles.
• Hands-on experience in 3D modelling, assembly creation, and 2D drafting using Siemens NX.
• Experience with Windchill or a similar PLM system for part creation, BOM management, drawing revisions, and release of components and assemblies.
• Experience in the design of plastic, injection-moulded parts, Aluminium castings, machined, and sheet-metal parts
• Experience in designing electro-mechanical parts
• Knowledge of product-development and engineering processes, including requirement analysis, concept development, detailed design, design reviews, design freeze, prototype development, validation, and final release.
• Good knowledge of GD&T;, datum systems, fits and tolerances, tolerance stack-up analysis, manufacturing drawings, and drawing interpretation.
• Working knowledge of engineering tools and processes such as BOM, DFMEA/FMEA, DRBFM, FTA, DFM, DFA, SAP, and engineering change management.
• Ability to review supplier drawings, dimensional inspection reports, manufacturing feedback, and component deviations.
• Understanding of mechanical packaging, fastening, sealing, thermal interfaces, assembly requirements, and material selection.
Responsibilities • Develop mechanical concepts and layouts according to product, packaging, and functional requirements
• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings using Siemens NX
• Design casted, machined, plastic, injection-moulded, and sheet-metal components.
• Prepare manufacturing drawings with appropriate dimensions, tolerances, GD&T;, material specifications, and surface-finish requirements.
• Perform tolerance stack-up analysis for critical component and assembly interfaces.
• Select appropriate materials based on product requirements, operating conditions, manufacturing processes, and material properties.
• Create and maintain part structures, engineering BOMs, drawings, and assemblies in Windchill.
• Release parts and assemblies and support drawing revisions and engineering changes
• Coordinate with electronics hardware, PCB, CAE, motor, testing, manufacturing, procurement, project-management, and supplier teams.
• Interact with suppliers to review manufacturability, inspection reports, technical deviations, and design-related issues.
• Support prototype and sample assembly, fitment checks, product testing, validation, root-cause analysis, and design improvements.
• Participate in design reviews and product-development meetings and communicate progress, risks, and open technical points.
Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/automotive
• At least 4 years of work experience as a CAD Designer or a similar role in the Engineering department
• Experience in automotive, inverter, motor-controller, power-electronics, or electromechanical product development is preferred
• Good time management and organizational skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
