Job Description
Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Lead Engineer – Supplier Quality Assurance / Supplier Technical Assistance on a contract basis with 4–6 years of experience in supplier quality and mechanical component manufacturing.The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in:• Ferrous Castings
• Forgings
• Sheet Metal
• Fabrication
• Precision Machined Components
A solid understanding of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and ISO/IATF standards is essential.This is a hands-on role requiring strong team player capabilities and involves:• Supplier evaluation and development
• Supplier audits and performance monitoring
• Driving quality improvements and cost efficiency
• Ensuring on-time delivery
Key Responsibilities
• Evaluate and onboard new suppliers based on technical and quality capabilities.
• Conduct supplier audits (process, system, and product audits).
• Drive APQP and PPAP activities for new product development.
• Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions (8D, SCAR).
• Lead root cause analysis and ensure timely closure of quality issues.
• Support cost improvement initiatives (VAVE) and process optimization.
• Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 standards.
• Perform joint inspections at supplier locations for First Article Inspection (FAI) and production parts.
• Prepare and present monthly and quarterly quality reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive supplier quality improvements.
Mandatory Skills
• 4–6 years of experience in Supplier Quality Assurance / Supplier Technical Assistance.
• Strong knowledge of IATF 16949 and ISO 9001.

• Hands-on experience with Quality Core Tools:• APQP
• PPAP

• Experience in using inspection equipment:• CMM

• Other precision measuring instruments
Desired Skills
• Lead Auditor certification in IATF 16949 and ISO 9001.
• Experience in new vendor development and supplier performance improvement.
• Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, VAVE, and Poka-Yoke methodologies.
• Exposure to ASME, ASTM, global quality standards, and international supplier audits.
• Experience in data analysis and monthly/quarterly quality reporting.
• Strong business acumen and strategic thinking ability.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering.
• 4–6 years of relevant experience in Supplier Quality roles.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.;
• Hands-on knowledge of measurement tools:• Height Gauge
• Micrometer
• Vernier Caliper
• Gear Measurement Instruments
• CMM
• Proficiency in MS Office and quality tools such as:• Fishbone Diagram
• 8D
• SCAR
• Strong attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset.
• Effective communication, stakeholder management, and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
Additional Requirements
The selected candidate should be willing to conduct joint inspections at supplier sites, including:• First Article Inspection (FAI)
• Mass Production Parts Inspection
