Technical Data Technician
Job Description
1. Role overview
This role supports the creation, transfer, maintenance and governance of technical and operational data across key industrial systems, including PLM, ERP, MES, CMMS and SAP. The objective is to ensure reliable data flows for product creation, line creation or transfer, logistics flow changes and the deployment of new digital tools within the plant.
2. Proposed mission
Ensure the integrity, consistency, quality and availability of industrial technical data throughout product, process, and system changes, supporting SAP and digitalization initiatives while contributing to the improvement of production methods and operational flows.
3. Main responsibilities
• Act as data process leader for product creation activities, ensuring accurate creation and maintenance of data in PLM, ERP and MES systems.
• Support line creation and line transfer projects by coordinating the required data flows across PLM, ERP, MES and CMMS.
• Analyze logistics flow modifications, such as new customers, AGV projects or new internal flows, assessing the impact on SAP, data structures and operational processes.
• Prepare and follow up SAP change orders related to product, logistics, line or process data changes.
• Test and validate new flows in SAP and related systems before operational deployment.
• Act as digital coordinator for the plant, supporting operational teams in the setup and use of new digital tools such as Fabriq.
• Participate in SAP ECC or S/4HANA implementation activities in collaboration with functional, technical and operational teams.
• Analyze, map, create, migrate and validate master data, including materials, customers, vendors and technical references.
• Ensure data quality through cleansing, normalization, consistency checks and validation processes.
• Develop and maintain technical and functional documentation related to data processes, digital tools and system changes.
• Identify opportunities to automate and digitalize operational processes, creating added value and supporting continuous improvement.
• Work with ETL tools and data integration solutions when required.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure proper implementation.
• Monitor, analyze and resolve data-related issues during and after SAP go-live or system/process changes.
• Support end-user training and awareness regarding data management, system usage and data quality principles.
• Contribute to the creation and update of routings, operating instructions, and production standards.
• Support the analysis and improvement of production and internal logistics flows.
• Participate in production-line changes, transfers, and new product introduction projects.
• Contribute to workstation, layout, line-balancing, and packaging improvement activities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives in cooperation with Production, Logistics, Quality, Methods, and Industrialization teams.
4. Performance indicators
• Accuracy and completeness of master and technical data created or updated.
• Number of data errors detected during testing, validation or go-live phases.
• Timely completion of SAP change orders and data requests.
• Quality and reliability of data migration, mapping and cleansing activities.
• Successful validation of new logistics, production or system flows in SAP.
• Adoption rate and effective usage of digital tools by operational teams.
• Resolution time for data-related incidents and user support requests.
5. Target recruitment profile
The ideal profile is a structured, detail-oriented technical data professional with good understanding of industrial processes, SAP/data environments and digital tools. The person should be able to work between operations, IT, engineering, logistics and industrialization teams, translating business needs into reliable data and system actions.
6. Main interfaces
The role will interact regularly with Operations, Production, Logistics, Industrialization, Engineering, Maintenance, IT, SAP key users, Quality, Supply Chain and project teams. It requires strong coordination between business users and system/data specialists to ensure that operational changes are correctly reflected in digital systems.
